B.C. Cancer Agency Protocol:

  1. Drivers will not be granted access to the building
  2. Companion passengers are discouraged and will be allowed only under special circumstances

Driver Protocol:

  1. Drivers are asked to provide their own masks, sanitizers and emergency spare masks
  2. There will be no shared rides
  3. Sanitize touch points of vehicle before picking up client
  4. Wear mask at all times when with client
  5. Mini-screen health questions on pick up – ‘are you ok today? any symptoms?’
  6. Driver opens and closes doors
  7. Client sits in back row, passenger side, window open for ventilation (weather permitting)
  8. If driver has other persons in vehicle during wait time, driver to re-sanitize touch points of vehicle

Client Protocol:

  1. Wear mask at all times when with driver
  2. Driver opens and closes doors
  3. Minimize contact with vehicle interior
  4. If client has any Covid-19-like health symptoms, cancel ride by calling Cancer DriveLine office

Dispatcher Protocol (pre-ride):

  1. There will be no shared rides
  2. When client calls to arrange ride, discussion includes the following:
    • Mask is mandatory
    • If asked, companions are discouraged
    • Advise that ride is NOT socially distanced
  3. When dispatcher calls driver day prior to scheduled ride, discussion includes the following:
    • health screening questions – symptoms, recent travel, mask
  4. When dispatcher calls client day prior to scheduled ride, discussion includes the following:
    • confirm appointment with client – advise who driver is
    • health screening questions – symptoms, recent travel, mask
